If one takes into account that the story is translated from Portuguese into English some things get lost in translation, having said that, the book is a thought provoking account of the very thing we all no matter how we feel about it, we will one day face it, death. The way Saramago turns a mysterious subject into something we can all in one way or another relate too was quite clever. ”
