“I thoroughly enjoyed Kenneth Roberts' historical fiction on the American Revolution. ”

The new hero is a younger Steven Nason, a ship captain named Peter Merrill, equipped with a younger brother/alter ego with Tory sympathies. Comic relief is provided by Doc Means, still supplemented by Cap Huff, and the love interest is another wronged orphan. This time Peter Merrill falls in love at first sight of her curly brown hair. Roberts can still catch history and turn it into drama, but I noticed too many parallels to Arundel upon this reading.”
