It doesn't get more politically incorrect than this. He takes apart american political sensibilities one euphemism at a time

What do I think of Carlin and this book? Well, I'll just say what Habermas said about Foucault:

    "He's a crypto-normativist."

    Well, sorta.

His death is unfortunate, especially for him. I grew up listening to Carlin. I remember as a kid I had a cassette tape of Toledo Windowbox, which was great. I haven't heard that bit in years. I need to get a hold of that again.

Not sure what I thought that this would be but was not expecting it to be as bad as this. There is no rythem or sequence to the book just blurbs from his standup routine that are thrown together in no particular order. I always thought he was funny on stage but this does not come out in the book. His delivery is what makes him funny. I was really disappointed with this book.

This book has my favorite part of George Carlin's in it. The Modern Man poem to open the book. LOVED IT!

I have to say this was an unpleasant surprise. Where Carlin usually comes across witty and wise, this book just seemed curmudgeonly and bitter.

This is where audio books read by the author are absolutely the greatest thing to have. I wasn't just reading Carlin's observations, I was basically listening to him perform stand-up that happened to have been written down in book-form. I absolutely loved this book. George Carlin was an absolute comic genius and a rather well-educated one as well. He could take the simplist observation and not only make you laugh but also think to yourself, "You know, he is absolutely right". I've watched all of his stand-up specials, but I had never read any of his books. Now I want to go find his others and see if he read the audio. Highly Recommended - though, it probably goes without saying, he can get a little raunchy at times. 5 stars

Carlin drops bombs. He has the capability of writing entire chapters in which every paragraph, hell, every sentence is dangerous-funny.

Was not as good as Napalm and Silly Putty. He was becoming extremely cynical in his old age. Still had some funny bits, but the other one was funnier.

Not quite as good as Dr. Leary, but still hilarious.
