An interesting historic fiction which tells the story through the use of letter writing to various people involved.

It was a great book. I love the way the story unfolded through letters back and forth between the main characters, that was a technique I'd never encountered before. I was interested immediately in the characters and what was happening to them. The main character wrote in a breezy, light-hearted way, but the story was actually very serious at times and I learned some WWII history I was not aware of before reading the book. I highly recommend it!

What a neat way to tell a story! A bit of history and great views of the location.

Aahhh...delightful. I love books about books, which this is. Also, it's a book of conversations (my favorite part to read in a book). Well, letters actually. But letters are like conversations, except maybe even better. I love how some one can express their feelings towards another very DIRECTLY in a letter. Anyway, the writers of the letters in this book do so tenderly and coherently. It'll have you cursing text messaging and email by the end.

It's a light and easy read, but I didn't take away any stars for that since the author's style was such a pleasure. Be prepared for some sorrow woven throughout; the author does shed a little light on the German occupation of the British Isles during WW2.

I wasn't sure I'd like the letters format for a narrative, but I ended up liking it. It allowed me to hear the story from multiple viewpoints/narrators. I was drawn in to the plot.

A very charming story set in post WWII England. I liked the ending even though I figured it out long beforehand. It makes me want to start a book club :-)
