If you like knowing about the faults and foibles of your favourite famous author, this may be the book for you. Each short chapter focuses on one well-known author and details the weird and wonky things they were or did.

From sexual pecadillos, to drug addictions, don't let anyone tell you that writers from the past were paragons of virtue, and some of the stuff may surprise you if you thought otherwise.

This is an easy read full of off-beat sound-bites of information. If, however, you revere your favourite author and don't want to know any less than stellar things about his or her life, then best to skip this one! It certainly doesn't deal gently with these authors, although it is written in a funny, tongue-in-cheek style and isn't mean-spirited at all.

ever heard of the MTV-generation adage: "you think you know but you have no idea?" completely spot on, that's exactly how this book is. i don't know how popular the anecdotes about the authors are, but they sure are candidly revealing and titillating.

i would read this book over and over again until judgment day. it's entertaining and more importantly, informative.

quirks are what makes us human. discovering the quirks of these great minds give us a face as opposed to a mere image shrouded in myth and legend.

Kind of fun to read during commercials. Not sure I really wanted to know about the sexual pecidillos of James Joyce, or how truly crazy W.B.Yeats was...still fascinating.

This is a terrific book! I find it a light, refreshing, and amusing read especially after a somber novel. Tasty tidbits are featured in an artistic and fun manner. Reading about the zaniness of some of our great and rather serious authors is quite amusing. I must say, I feel a bit more normal!
