Stupid book. Stupid story. I consider books like this to be costume smut.

Obviously, Ms. Sands is not interested at all in doing due research on the behavior of the aristocracy during the Regency period. The poor attempt to mimic the class and period vernacular was apparently the result...

Clarissa is very near-sighted and her mean stepmother breaks her spectacles because says she will be ‘ugly and not take’. Instead she chases prospects away with her clumsiness and accidents. Adrian soon figures out the problem, but is not averse to her ‘blindness’ because he has a facial scar that he would rather she not see. During this unusual courtship, Adrian also fears that some of her accidents are not actually accidents, but may have a very lethal intent. Well done Regency with some LOL humor.

It was a cute premise and the h/hr are lovable but the author tries too hard to use old fashioned speech in the dialogue.

This is my first and only historical by this author that I've read. I loved it. The heroine, Clarissa, needs to wear glasses....however due to various accidents & her stepmothers admonitions against wearing around prospective suitors, she frequently goes about without wearing them. Adrian, the hero, has a scar on the side of his face gotten while being a soldier. He believes that women either think he's hideous or else want the thrill of being with a deformed freak. In reality his scar has settled over time and only makes him look dashing. The two meet and it's instant chemistry. I loved that there was really no conflict between the couple. The main conflict involved somebody trying to do Clarissa harm and the mystery surrounding that. The source of conflict was the internal one had by both hero & heroine - Clarissa was reluctant to have Adrian see her wearing glasses for fear it would be a turn-off & Adrian worried that if she had the glasses on she would see his scar and freak out. In spite of these internal conflicts, I was happy that neither party acted out in a negative way toward each other.

I read Love is Blind. This isn't the exact book. This book was amazing. It taught a wonderful lesson, that lesson was not to judge on other as what you see but as what you get to know about them. The girl is in a tragic accident and meets someone whom was also in a tragic accident. The only difference is, is this kid is blind and rude. The ending shows what happens if you just take the time to get to know someone and teaches a great story. I loved this book.

Notoriously klutzy and completely blind without her glasses, lovely Lady Clarissa Crambray catches the eye of scarred Napoleonic war veteran Adrian Montfort, Earl of Mowbray, who views her as a delightful challenge--and the perfect candidate for becoming his wife

I thought this was a cute book, and I enjoyed reading it. It's nice to read a romance where you actually like both the hero and the heroine. I could sympathize with their self-consciousness about their perceived flaws. Poor Clarissa thought she'd be rejected by her husband because she looked ugly in her spectacles. Poor Adrian thought his wife would be disgusted when she saw his scar. It takes some skill to handle this kind of storyline where the couple is keeping secrets from each other, and I think Ms. Sands did a great job here.

The mystery was good, but it didn't overtake the story, and it didn't compromise the sweet, cheerful tone of this story. She kept me guessing about who was the culprit behind Clarissa's 'accidents,' and I liked the resolution. Although I am into noir romance, I do like to read a sweet romance where there are lots of laughs, and the characters are people I would like in real life. Love is Blind is one of those stories. I really liked the end where Clarissa and Adrian confront their insecurities and confirm their love for each other, 'flaws' and all. It was an 'aww' moment for me. I'm glad I pulled this out of my tbr pile for my Slightly More Challenging Challenge. It wasn't too fluffy or silly for me to enjoy, and I do have a low threshold for that kind of story, if I'm not in the mood for it. If you read Love is Blind, go into it with an open mind, and a willingness to enjoy a lighter, sweet read with good characters. I did. But then, I'm a sucker for scarred heroes, sweet heroines, books that make me laugh, and likeable characters. It also helped that I am near-sighted myself. Here's to the four-eyed folks out there!

Ilove any Lynsay Sands book. All the heroines are brave and intelligent. They don't wait around for a handsome hero to solve their problems. They jump in and do it themselves. sometimes they'll even wind up saving everyone else.
This book touched me especially because I'm blind without my glasses too.

Stupid book. Stupid story. I consider books like this to be costume smut.

Obviously, Ms. Sands is not interested at all in doing due research on the behavior of the aristocracy during the Regency period. The poor attempt to mimic the class and period vernacular was apparently the result of just reading other writers who neglected the research requirements as well.

I seldom write such strong language in a review but this whole genre is an affront to me. Georgette Heyer must be spinning in her grave. I had been told that Ms Sands would be different.

    I was misinformed.
