“It's unusual for me to rate a book this low. Usually there's something to redeem most books. This one, however, abuses the reader's trust. Not only has the author been sloppy with details about the characters -- inconsistences practically from the beginning -- but has offered characters who beg to be hated. The heroine is a doormat whose history of past abuse doesn't get in the way of sleeping with a thoroughly disagreeable hero who is both selfish and mean-spirited toward her. Perpetuating the abusive relationships in her life?
The author cheated the readers and violated the conventions romance readers have come to expect. I do not recommend this book.”
“I dont agree that Gloryanne Barnes is a doormat! She just could not reveal the reason for her situation. Cant get enough of Diana Miller. Lover her books. This one was great. Like some of Judith McNaught's books, this one brought me to tears.”

I bought this one the day it came out because I have been waiting for Rodrigo's
story since he first appeared as a Merc working for Laremos in Mexico in Mystery Man.
After a great outing in last year's outsider I was ready for another great book, but this one bombed big time.
Rodrigo is working undercover at a farm, where he receives visits from his DEA partner openly and appear to be trying to buddy up to drug dealers locally. His heroine,Gloryanne is an Asst DA sent to the farm undercover to protect her. Now doesn't it seem like Rodrigo might have been told that Gloryanne needs his protection and help?????
This book managed to make the usual assortment of mercs, cops and DEA agents look like the keystone cops falling over each other. It also contains my two most hated plotlines: the big misunderstanding and the long separation.
This couple gets together in the last chapter and I didn't buy it for a minute. The new Fed introduced would have been a much better match for Gloryanne and give Rodrigo another hopefully better book.
To say thi was a disappointment is putting it mildly”
