“This was a good fast read. Not as confusing as some of the other Karen Chance books. Or maybe I've just gotten used to her universe. I like the carry-over of character from other series.”

I just finished it, and while I will probably read the rest of the series, this wont be going on the keeper shelf... unless of course the second book is amazing. ”

You get to see a little bit different side of some of the Cassie Palmer characters and have an understanding for some of the faerie world that Cassie is still in the dark about. Reading this before reading book 4 of the Cassie Palmer series is almost a must.”

It had some really interesting 'memories' that were tasteful done and left you mind to wonder about the details. I am looking for to the next title in the series. The lead female character is pretty gritty but you can already see she is a big softy deep down and I love the Fey involvement now.”

At first I couldn't get over the similarities between Dorina and Riley jensen (Keri Arthur) but as I went on, I couldn't seem to put it down, or keep it down for long! Love it.”

Midnight's Daughter is lacking a lot of the trip-ups that I find annoying in the Cassandra Palmer series - most notably the fact that MD is thankfully far more linear plot-wise with FAR less ancillary side plots stuffed into the book to detract from the over all arc.
And Dorina may not win any daughter of the year awards, but I liked her, and I LOVED the chemistry between her and Louis-Cesare.
And Stinky is Awesome!
3.25 Stars for Midnight's Daughter. Looking forward to more.”
“like it :)”

Dorina Basarab is the offspring of a vampire and a human, a dhampir. Most dhampirs are prone to extreme rages and slips in sanity but unlike most others, Dorina has learned to control the rages. Presently her only purpose is to find out what happened to her best friend and roommate, Claire who disappeared without a trace. However, when her father, vampire Mircea comes to her for assistance she has no choice but to help him.
Dorina’s uncle, Dracula has escaped his prison and Dorina is the only one who can stop him. There isn’t much that scares Dorina but even she is truly terrified of the evil Dracula. There’s a catch, however, Dorina must work with vampire Louis-Cesare on this mission. Vampires hate dhampirs and Dorina always works alone. What these two don’t know is they are about to experience the adventure of several lifetimes.
I love Karen Chance and I sure wish I'd gotten to Midnight’s Daughter sooner! What a great start to a new series. Even better that Mircea, a favorite character of mine in the Cassie Palmer series plays a key role, if not a huge one. Fans who have read Karen's story in the On the Prowl Anthology will be glad to see Claire and Heidar from that story are pretty important to this one, even though no one knows where Claire is! This story is an intriguing blend of adventures, between hunting down and trapping the vampire of all vampires, Dracula, who puts in several appearances and is so sadistically evil he’ll give you chills, and Dorina’s search for her missing friend.
In a very unusual way, Midnight’s Daughter is as much about family relationships as it is action and adventure. Family ties run deep, even when they are as twisted and skewed as Dorina’s family is. There is the insane relative in Dracula, the brilliant scientist who also may have a few screws loose in Uncle Rabu, the mysterious father Mircea, and then there is Louis-Cesare the only made vampire of his sire Rabu. There are also family ties made not from blood but by choice as those between Dorina and Claire.
If you’ve read the Cassandra Palmer series, you’ll already be familiar with the incomparable Louis-Cesare. Now he finally gets the story he deserves and if Midnight’s Daughter is any indication, we’ll see plenty more of him, right alongside of Dorina in future tales. Midnight’s Daughter is a rockin' story full of high speed action and adventure, as is a key element in anything Karen writes!
