This book was a pleasure for me to read. I was not sure if I could really care for a book based on a stripper. I love the fact it’s written in first person, as I am a fan of first person novels. I also love the fact that each chapter was written in first person by a different character. This gave me a chance to get into each character’s head.
We meet Janelle Mo’Nigue Taylor the hottest stripper to hit the Pink Palace. It’s not her dream job but it pays the bills and then some. Mo’Nigue invasions something else but cant get out. She looks at men as tricks that is until she meets Tommy Holloway a hustler working his was up the ranks. Both having different thoughts about each other but their budding love affair is one to be admired. As time goes on Mo’Nigue starts to feel he not giving his all and fears he holding something back. As she pries deeper along wondering how she could be falling for a trick and wondering why Tommy is trying to turn a hoe into a housewife. This makes for some interesting reading and some different turn of events. You will have to read to see what I am talking about.
You always hear if this was a movie who would be the main characters I have to say this put me in mind of the players ball movie. While this story is TOTALLY different then the movie those playing in the movie came to mind. For Tommy I thought of Omar Epps for those who read the book should have idea of where I am going with this.
I look forward to reading more from Mr. McCaulsky as he held my attention and had me wanting to read more. I just had to get to this end of the book and see how this was gonna turn out and I was not disappointed. I also like the fact that I used to live in Atlanta, GA so I was familiar with the places and street names.

“Pink Blue's
Mo has enough on her plate. Being a young teen that had a mother pass away and a step-father that's an alcoholic and noone that can help look after her well-being. The last thing Mo'Nique needs is to start stripping at The Pink Palace and fall in love with a guy name Tommy that has many secrets and surrounded by trouble, but is Tommy the wrong guy or just another trick? Mo'Nique finds herself falling for Tommy eventhough, he has 2 lives on the forefront. Torn between love and just taking tricks money, Mo' must make her choice, and the choice she choose may be the last dance.
Marlon McCaulsky had a good plot for writing The Pink Palace, but I feel it failed to deliver in keeping the reader interested in the storyline. I found the dialogue at times rather robotic and the main character take a back seat and was more a secondary role. The story didn't let the reader feel the action with the story, but felt just a script that was to be read. I do applaud Marlon McCaulsky for the editing and writing his first debut. I'm sure the next read by Marlon will be great, because he has the key to write, but just need to learn how to deliver for the reader. 3 stars for the first debut and I will keep reading Marlon McCaulsky's novels and watch him grow as an author. ”

Yes | No“The Pink Palace by Marlon McCaulsky combines two elements readers enjoy; an intriguing plot and a great ending. Named for the strip club where Mo'Nique and Nikki danced, the Pink Palace attracted the `real' ballers in and of New York City . Though their journey to such a place derived from tragedy riddled pasts, Mo'Nique and Nikki navigated tricks and became the common denominators amongst enemies. That was until love called for Mo'Nique. But who falls in love with a trick? And what type of man would love a stripper?
Tommy stood alongside Damien, a major drug dealer, as he planned to take the game to another level. Damien was about to make millions and Tommy was going to be right by his side when it was said and done. That was part of the reason falling in love with Mo'Nique was so untimely. He did not realize exactly how much he cared for her until he was forced to move her to Georgia because of a near assault at the hands of someone close to him. That was also the moment Mo'Nique understood the depths of her love for Tommy. When he exposed himself to her, instead of high-tailing it out the door and passing the word along, Mo'Nique stood firm in her feelings and kept the secret to herself, possibly at the expense of those closest to her.
The Pink Palace is a good addition to the urban fiction arena. McCaulsky's novel had awesome characterization, a great plot and subplots, and it was a quick read. Most of the dialogue was unnecessarily tagged and there should have been more written about the character Bishop. Relationships were integral to the story so I was disappointed to read very little about Bishop; who was key to part of the conflict. Let me be the first to write that everything in this story is unexpected. Though I had anticipated issues would arise between Mo'Nique, Nikki, Damien, and Tommy, in hindsight, I had no clue how deep they would be. Fans of urban fiction and even contemporary fiction will enjoy The Pink Palace.

“Janelle Taylor, a teenager who was left in the care of her step-father after her mother's death; eventually runs away and turns to stripping. She is introduced to stripping by her cousin Nikki, who works at the Pink Palace. On the set at the Pink Palace you will find hustlers and ballers who will spend top dollar for their hearts desire. Janelle Taylor is known as the beautiful Mo'Nique, she is introduce to the sexy hustler Tommy Holloway who she immediately falls head over heels for, and the feelings are mutual for Tommy. Tommy has a different aura then the other hustlers that come through the Pink Palace and Mo'Nique is loving it. She knows that Tommy has secrets, but is she willing to find out what those secrets are. The Pink Palace (Triple Crown Publications Presents) is a must read that will keep you wanting more to the very end. There is a twist to the story. Very fast paced. Mr. McCaulsky you've really outdone yourself on your debut novel. Keep cranking them out. Tangerine Reader's Paradise Book Club ”

The pink palace is the spot where the strippers look like models and the tricks are nothing but balers and shot callers. During her stint at the palace Mo ends up meeting Tommy who is not your average trick. Mo can’t put her finger on it, but it’s something about Tommy that makes her look at him totally different from the other men that come in and out of her life. Damien, he’s the trick tied up in banging Nikki. Damien and Nikki have a lot in common and that is all about making a quick buck not caring if the money is dirty or clean as long as they are getting it. Good things come to those who wait even at The Pink Palace.
Originally by the title and the cover of the book I thought it would be based solely around the club but it was way beyond that. There is drama, but isn’t there always. There are some steamy scenes in the book, but not as steamy as the book cover portrays. I started enjoying it in the middle of the book because that is when certain operations begin to crumble and tumble to the ground. I enjoyed the book and I give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars”
