“Funny, funny, funny!
How two neighbors who totally drive each other nuts and admit to hating each other can become best friends.
Great Chick-Lit book!”
“Enjoyed Saralee's sense of humor about life in an affluent neighborhood!! Could identify with her main character who was more 'real' than any of her botox, LV, Jimmy choo neighbors!!! Not a literary classic but made me laugh and think about the petty b...s... some people think of as important and earth shattering......”

Yes | No“I'm sure there are a few people out there that have had experiences with a neighbor who makes you want to put a note in their mailbox that says, "Dear neighbor, drop dead." This is exactly what Mindy Sherman did to her horribly mean neighbor Beth Diamond.
Mindy is an average overweight wife and mom of three who juggles work, carpooling the kids and the stress of just barely managing not to drown in debt while ducking and dodging mean comments from Beth. Beth and her husband seemingly have it all; new cars, a huge immaculate house and two perfect kids. But all is not as it seems... Beth's marriage is about to fall apart at the seams and she has no real friends to turn to. Suddenly she's apologizing for treating Mindy bad in the past and looking for a shoulder to cry on.
Meanwhile Mindy's own family drama is escalating and they've just learned that Mindy's stepson is coming for a visit which eventually turns into a permanent stay. With everything flipping upside down around her, Mindy channels Oprah and Dr. Phil to help make everything right again.
Dear Neighbor, Drop Dead is a funny madcap look into the life of a soccer-mom. Just when you think things might be looking up for Mindy, Beth and their families another bad thing happens and you can't help but laugh. I enjoyed reading this book but the ending was just too "storybook" for me to rate it higher. It’s a quick two/three day read that I do recommend reading if you have the chance.”
“This book was so much more than I anticipated. I picked it up thinking it was going to be brain candy chick lit. Was I wrong!! This is a fantastic story about friendship, family, relationships, marriage, parenting, financial difficulties, attitude with a whole bunch of humor thrown in. The main character, Mindy, is an over-worked, under-appreciated mom who just keeps plugging along no matter what the situation is. To add to Mindy's already too full plate is the neighbor from hell, Beth, a self-absorbed, drop-dead gorgeous woman who appears to have everything. With all the humor are some tears. The sections about the Kindertransport during WW2 were fascinating. And when Mindy takes her stepson back to the neighborhood where he was born, I wished it would go on forever.
The sign of a great book: I hated to see this book end! I'm still thinking about the characters and wondering what they're doing.

“I was first drawn to this book because of the title. I think sometimes we would all like to say "drop dead" or worse to our neighbor. But I found that this book is about so much more than rivalry between neighbors.
I sit on my front porch swing and laughed so hard during the first half of the book that my sides hurt. It was somewhere about then that I realized that I was relating so well to the main character that it was funny hearing the stories told. This book is about relationships between husband and wife, mother and children, in-laws, neighbors and so much more. It is about life as well as death and how both of these affect us as individuals in different ways. It is about finding ourselves and our purpose in life.
Dear Neighbor Drop Dead is about how we all long to be accepted and loved for who we are. It is about judging others for what we think they are like. It is about people turning to those lease expected for support and guidance when life throws dirt in your eyes so to speak.
This book was very humorous and could so easily be real life but while reading it, I learned something about myself that was totally unexpected. I learned that I could be one the characters in this book. My life could be told similar to some of the stories. I think that is why I enjoyed this book so much. It is a wonderful book about how real life is. Life can be difficult but when we have someone (anyone) to lean on, it helps soften the blow.
The Author has the ability to write the story in a manner that most of us can relate too. It is a way of laughing instead of crying at our ups and downs. I loved the authors style in writing. She has a way of taking the reader behind the doors of the characters to see the personalities and life of those in the book and then intertwining them together. I feel like I came away from this book with some new friends.
I would give this book a FIVE STAR. There is not a dull moment in this book. The reader will not want to put it down until it is completed.”
“They say the grass is always greener on the other side and boy does Mindy Sherman believe it. She and her neighbor Beth have formed a reluctant if somewhat spiteful truce as next door neighbors. By no means would they consider themselves friends. When both their worlds start to fall apart, though, they find that they need each other more than they ever could have imagined. Super fun, utterly hilarious, and charmingly heartwarming! A must read for summer.”
