All the ghosts in the graveyard decide to name him Nobody Owen, his nickname becomes Bod. They give him the freedom of the graveyard. That means he can do anything that a ghost can as long as he is in the graveyard. He can pass through walls, he can fade or turn invisible. He can even open a ghouls gate. He must remain in the graveyard until he is old enough to protect himself against the Man Jack. the problem is there are other dangers in the graveyard other then the man Jack. Ghouls kidnap him and try to make him one of there own. An ancient Indigo man who guards his masters treasure. He even makes friends with a witch. They soon decide to let Bod,(nobody) go to school. While he is school he supposed to lie low but instead he tries to solve a bully problem by haunting them and dream walking into there dreams.Soon the police go after him and he must leave school. All this happens until he turns 14, and the Man Jack comes back to finish what he started.
I liked this book very much. The reason i liked it was because it was a very original plot. I like the idea of a boy being raised in a graveyard by real ghosts. Normally the ghosts are the bad guys but in this book the ghosts help Bod just as a parent would help his child. I also like that the boy acquired the powers that a ghost has. Like haunting and fading. This book was very predictable. You could guess pretty easily who the Man Jack was and what would happen to Bod in the end. It was not predictable how the Man Jack would be defeated until he gets defeated. My favorite part is when Bod is fighting the Man Jack. Also when the Man Jack gets defeated. Thought that Bod took the Man Jack down very thoughtfully and it was hard to predict what he was going to do.
I would give this book a 10 and I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is interested. The book was very well written by one of my favorite authors. Neil Gaiman the writer of Coraline truly created a dark creepy and remarkable ghost story.
