- Richard: The father of Sol. His uptight mother is constantly investigating her own mother's mysterious past, and his father is an unsuccessful playwright. His family moves to Israel, where his mother continues her research
- Sadie: The mother of Richard. She is constantly under pressure to be perfect, and her grandparents, who have raised her (as her celebrity mother is always performing) are the source of the pressure.
Setting & Locations edit
The setting jumps between the character's youthful homes in California (Sol), Haifa (Randall), Toronto and New York (Sadie) and Germany, in a small town two hours outside of Munich (Erra).
