I have read this book several times and it continues to pull me in. It chronicles the movement of the Jewish people from all over the world to the founding of the new state of Isreal. It is epic in its scope. Leon Uris also wrote several other books of equal quality. I am currently reading Trinity which covers the fight of the Irish people for independance from Britian.

When Leon Uris started to write the novel which unfolded around the time of the founding from the State of Israel, he thought it was a failure. Little did he know, that his great saga was later a bok many jews associated themselves with. A book everyone who loves to read a good action book what has an historical background.

Very powerful narrative. The tone is almost biblical. Yet this work of fiction is based on so many real and recent events so vividly described that I couldn't stop crying throughout the book. Very moving.

The first time i saw this book when in the book shelf of my parents, and now i was reading it. All the hope of the jewish people to get finally their state recognized and what hope, faith and endurance was needed. Something they lived on for centuries. My heart went out for them , i connected to it.

since i am myself israeli born i can feel for them, and i think a movie was made about it already. It is hard for us to imagine, what endurances and hardships those people had to endure, to be displaced from your country, and not to know where and when and how. This is a timeless story, now more than ever.

This Book has to be read in the Context of the People of Isreal and Displaced persons in the 21 century. There are heaps of books on such circumstances.Only in freedom will culture thrive. Very few persons understand lack of freedom. The Exodus could be made into a movie
