Excellent read. An important book for any teen who is considering enlisting in the military. Meyers follows the first three months of an 18-year old soldier in Iraq and how the young man comes to grips with the reality that all about war is not glorious.
I'm reading this now...I've also read his other "war" book, FALLEN ANGELS.
Anyone know how he did his research for this one? He was in the army during Vietnam, so I know about Fallen Angels...I'm curious. One of my favorite authors!
this book iss a great read the way myers takes hold of your and pulls u into the book it makes u feel like u r really ther while this is happening. this book you can read over and over again and never get tired if it
I loved this book and how everything is so vivid in your mind while you are reading it. What ever happened to Victory after he lost two of his fingers?
My son chose this book for a English read in 8th grade without having an opportunity to really understand the setting, the tradegies and blood and death. My wife and I read some of it and were very disturbed that this book would be considered appropriate for 13-14 year olds. Its very real and descriptive and sometimes we need to shield our children until there a little older. War is a horrible thing, especially one(s) where we don't even belong.
