Cast of Characters/Important People

  • Adrian Monk: An extremely intelligent, talented detective who suffers from OCD and constantly has the urge to straighten things up and clean. His wife Trudy died years ago from a car bombing, and he has never really recovered. When solving a murder is when he's most relaxed.
  • Natalie Teeger: Monk's nurturing, kind assistant, who stands by his side to hand him wipes, comfort him, and help solve murders. Her husband Mitch died. She has a teenage daughter named Julie.
  • Captain Stottlemeyer: The captain of the San Francisco Police that shows Monk crimes he cannot solve himself. He is blond with a big, bushy mustache and he has a dry sense of humor.
  • Randy Disher: A lieutenant at the San Francisco Police. Randy acts a lot like a kid sometimes, and has his own band, the Randy Disher Project, which has one song, "I Don't Need A Badge."
  • Le Roux: A man from the Paris Police.
  • Inspector Guy Gadois: An inspector from the Paris Police who has a tribute band to Randy's band, the Randy Disher Project, called the Guy Gadois project.

Memorable Quotes

  • “"French food won't hurt you." <Natalie> said. "That's not what all the signs say." "What signs?" Monk pointed to a boulangerie two doors down... that had a mouthwatering display of breads... in the window. "Right there, in big letters, all over the awning," Monk said. "Pain. Pain. Pain." "It's the French word for bread." <Natalie> said. "”
