“possibly my favorite lora leigh romantic suspense novel! Oh my it left me almost in tears at quite a few parts. ”

Jordan Malone a retired SEAL himself, he creates Elite Ops, a private company offering the services of the worlds deadliest men. In return for giving these 'dead' men and new identity he takes seven years of their lives.
Readers of the Tempting SEALs series will know that Nathan Malone was a SEAL, captured by Diego Fuentes and held hostage for eighteen months being given Whores Dust, a terrible date rape drug, which caues uncontrollable lust. Finally rescued from his captor, Nathan is damaged and in a startling move chooses to 'die' in the eyes of his family. A gruelling rehabilitation sees Nathan become Noah Blake, the first of Jordan Malone's Elite Operatives.
Noah is a hardened killing machine, until a mission brings him back into contact with Sabella Malone, his wife. Noah is sent to protect her from a local gang sets thier sights on her business. Forced to be with her once more, Noah is consumed by the lust his wife always inspired, and he can't help but seduce her.
Sabella Malone died the same night her husband did. She goes through the motions and just about holds her life together, but that's about it. When her brother in law hires a mysterious new mechanic Bella is scared by the attraction he inspires. Not since her husband has she wanted a man so badly, as her attraction makes her feel she is betraying Nathan. As the sparks fly, Bella wonders if it isn't time to let her husband go, but at the same time Noah feels too familiar to her.
Having read the series back to front, this explained a lot of things for me, namely the conception of the the Elite Ops, and how it functions. Initially I found the concept of Nathan choosing to appear dead difficult, but I think Leigh manages this quite well. In Noah and Bella's relationship both characters see that their original marriage was less than perfect, with both being too afraid to really let the other get to know them. This is the bittersweet story of them letting go of the past, forgiving hurts and learning to love the people they have become.
This is typical Leigh, with lots of ranuchy sex, alpha men, sparky women and danger
I think that the subplot was weaker than the one in say Maverick or Heat Seeker, but that the love story made up for that.

The storyline was good, a bit flimsy in parts, and dramatic enough in others to keep the pages turning. There should be a special tag for "cold shower" books....this one would definately earn one of those tags. Unless of course you have some one nice and warm to cuddle up to after reading!!!!”

Plain and simple it is romance, it pulls on the heart strings while still having an alpha, dominant and possessive hero. His tragic past is so sad but the end makes it all worth it.”

Yep, I said it SEAL! Common, say it out loud Navy SEEAAL and tell me didn't you feel a light tingle *giggle* now go pick up that book.
What? (pause) Okay, Okay your expecting a little more indepth review I know --Okay here it is!
The HUMOR MOMENTS - in this book is definitely the banter relationship Noah has with his brother Rory and I don't have to be of Irish descent to have one of those in my family. So expect some light hearted chuckles
*chuckle excerpt* (pg278)
"Man. Get hold of Noah. Fast. Don't know what he did to piss of Belle. She got girls night out and looks like something that just stepped outta every man's fantasy....Get me some Backup before that psychotic bastard you have with you goes nuclear and blames me for this. He grabs my neck one more time, and I swear to God. To God Jordan, and I'm telling Grandpop...Tell him that one for me. He does it again and we're all screwed 'cause I'm squealin' like a pig to the old man and savin' my own ass first. You tell him that."
The ACTION PLOT in Wild Card are story lined subtle. What do I mean by that - Well it's not a high action, high explosive book - ahhh that's all in the love scenes *ehem. giggle*. Most of the action scene are from the heated dialogue between the two characters Bella and Noah Blake.
Okay Stay with me here. You see Noah Blake, formerly known as U.S. Navy Seal, Nathan Malone. (from her other novel series Tempting SEALs) who on a mission got pumped up with some heavy sex drug, his face became unrecognizable when they rescued him. He then had an inferior complex about his manly status and chose not to tell his wife he was alive.
Asshole right. Yep! but a complex asshole and don't worry that's the one of the great qualities your going to love about Noah.
So after six years he decides it was time to walk back into her life and he does this undercover, posing as a mechanic...and she owns a mechanic shop..LOL..you gotta love the transition into that. Noah is extremely alpha male all of Lora's men characters are but you gonna love how she spins the whole undercover mechanic thing.
*shudder excerpt * hint of Nathan's personality (pg 201)
"Get that in your head, Sabella. I am not Nathan Malone. I am not the man you loved, but by God I am the man that's going to fuck you. That's going to hold you when you cry in the night, and the man that's going to bind you to him so tight, so hard, that you'll never think to hide even a partial of who and what you are from him."
Now Sabelle's character personality is summed up by (pg 206)
*clapping proudly in this excerpt*
"I loved being helpless for him. Then. I've grown up, Noah. I'm not a doll. I'm not dumb. And I can survive with-out a big strong man to lean on. I've proved it. To myself and to anyone else who thought I was no more than the dumb blonde I let them see. Hell, I was eighteen when I married Nathan. Twenty when he was lost on the last mission. I loved him with all my soul, but I'm a woman now and games aren't a part of who or what I am. And you may as well get used to it, because I won't play the simpleton for you."
Wild Card my FAVE book of the Elite Ops Series so far.
