Summary
In the prologue, a Clan of cats called ThunderClan is battling against a rival Clan, RiverClan, at a place the cats call Sunningrocks. A cat named Redtail, ThunderClan's deputy, soon realizes that ThunderClan is so outnumbered that they have to retreat. Cast of Characters/Important People
- Rusty/Firepaw: The main character, A kittypet (housecat) that has strange dreams of the forest behind his home. Ventures into the forest and meets a ThunderClan apprentice. Ginger tom whose pelt strongly resembles the color of fire.
- Graypaw: Firepaw's best friend after he joins Thunderclan. A gray striped cat who helps Firepaw on his many adventures. Also the apprentice he met and fought with when he first ventured into the forest.
- Bluestar: Thunderclan's mighty leader who offers to take Rusty into Thunderclan. Long, blue-gray fur with a silver muzzle.
- Ravenpaw: Slender black tom
- Redtail: Small tortoiseshell tom with a distinctive ginger tail, the ThunderClan Deputy at the beginning of the book.
- Spottedleaf: Beautiful tortoiseshell she-cat with amber eyes and a white muzzle.
- Lionheart: Large golden tabby tom with thicker fur around his neck like a lion's mane
- Tigerclaw: Big dark brown tabby tom with unusually long front claws and amber eyes. One ear is split into a large V shape.
- Whitestorm: Large white tom with amber eyes. Bluestar's nephew.
- Darkstripe: Dark black-and-gray tabby tom with amber eyes. Big supporter of Tigerclaw.
- Longtail: Pale tabby tom with dark black stripes and blue eyes
- Sandpaw: pale ginger she-cat
- Dustpaw: Dark brown tabby tom
