I wanted to read this book because I knew there is a movie out, based on this book. i really enjoy reading books and seeing the movie after, which is why i was so excited to read this book. I had no idea this diary-like book would entertain me so much.

Into the Wild is about the journey of a young man named Christopher McCandless who has a dream of hitchhiking to Alaska. After freshly graduating high school, with a perfect record, this could sound like a far fetch. The beginning of the book starts out with his Christopher’s own dead body which ended up in an old abandoned bus in Alaska. During his journeys he wrote in a diary, which was also found as well. The book then brings you back to the point he graduated, telling his parents where he wanted to go and do with his life. The only word needed to explain this was Alaska. His parents disagreed with this and forbid him on his journey but he did not listen. He started his journey cold and alone, through the toughest scenarios imaginable and managed to survive in the beginning, unknowing the terrible things going on with his family. He conquered his fears, took life threatening risks to end up in the middle of a dream that he never knew he could overcome.

This book was extremely well written and a fascinating read but to me it was overly explicit and too descriptive in some areas. This book is perfect for those who enjoy reading diary-type books and have an interest in going to Alaska.
