It was a very clever read...but Hari Seldon is too cool a customer!
Asimov never did do romance well...(and he knew it :-))

I was afraid this would be boring and dry and I would feel forced to finish it since I actually bought it but it wasn't.

In fact I had a hard time putting it down. It catches you right from the beginning and keeps moving through this futuristic world without any uncomfortable long drawn out pauses explaining futuristic terms or items.

Never having read Asimov before I am glad to say that I have discovered a new favorite author.

Prelude to Foundation by Issac Asimov is a book I have been meaning to read for years. It was written 37 years after the first book of the series, the work adds much color and detail to the classic Foundation. We are introduced to Hari Seldon - inventor of psychohistory - and how he came to know of robots playing roles in the galaxy and the beginnings of psychohistorical science.

Primer Libro de la Saga de la Fundacion de Isaac Asimov. Una serie que nadie que se considere amante de la ciencia ficcion puede dejar de leer.

After a friend suggested reading the Foundation Series, I though it sounded really neat so I checked out the first book. Prelude to Foundation was a let down though. The book was very slow and nothing much happened in it. It was only in the last twenty pages that the book really picked up. And that was because of two huge plot changes. What the book really missed was a climax!

Some aspects of the book were good, like all of the different cultures of the futuristic society. And how all of the characters developed the whole book. However, the bad outweighed the good. The book was just too long. In fact, I might have given the book another two stars or so if it had been shorter. Who knows? If it had been half the size and more concise it might have been a really good read.

Although Prelude was a bad experience, I will continue the series. My guess is, since this book was a prequel, the early ones might have been better. Plus, I have been told that it is really worth it to read to the third book. Isaac Asmov is a good writer, so I will give him another chance.

I thought it was great, in spite of what my friends thought. Good tie-in from his I Robot set.

Tells how Harry Seldon started his work in Psychohistory. A good little SF thriller, though it would not have launched the Foundation series in quite the way that the first Foundation book did.
