The Pigeon is back and now what he wants is a puppy. However, he doesn't quite know how to take care of it. He interacts with the reader by responding to what the typical reader might say to him. Then the pigeon hears a puppy and when it appears he realizes that he's afraid of puppies! He changes his mind and decides he rather have a walrus.

Classroom Use:
-Great postmodern book to use for making inferences – the pigeon responds, but to the reader, not another character in the book. What is the author leaving out? The students can fill in the missing information based on how the pigeon responds.
-Written response – students can write about what the pigeon would want to do with a walrus and what might happen if he actually got a walrus
