• Edited the description of Maximum Ride (aka Max): Max is the 14-year-old leader of the Flock who runs the group with her friend, and "right-wing man", Fang. Just like the rest of the flock members Max looks older than 14 she is somewhat described to look like she is 18. In the earlier installments, she repeatedly shows extreme discomfort with expressing and coming to terms with her feelings toward him. She often flees in response to Fang's advances, but finally overcomes her fear of love's vulnerability in the fifth book, MAX. She does go on a date with another classmate, Sam(who is a suspected Eraser), during the flock's brief stay in Virginia, but aside from Fang's jealousy, nothing ever comes of it. Sam has not made an appearance in any of the later books. In the 5th book, MAX, Max realizes she is in love with Fang. This results in Max and Fang to come to terms about their relationship. Max'srelationship. Max's special abilities include super speed, a power she developed in the second book. She estimates she can fly up to 200 miles per hour. In MAX, she develops gills, thus giving her the power to breathe underwater. An ever-present "Voice" in her head gives her instructions throughout her adventures and annoys Max more often than not. Maxnot. Max has been described to have brown hair with sun kissed blond streaks. In the later books however her hair is often described as brown. When asked about it on the Maximum ride blog, in order to clear this up, Iggy admits that Max's hair color changes, it turns light brown/ dark blonde in the summer, and medium brown during the winter. In the Manga series she is pictured with Platinum blonde hair. On the Maximum ride blog, Max says this surprised her, which probably hints that her hair is not platinum blonde. She has brown eyes, and her skin is light tan. She is very lean and muscular like the other members of the Flock, and her wings are tan with white streaks and brown spots. Again, like the rest of the Flock, she has abnormal strength, about ten times greater than that of a human. Max's mother is of Mexican Heritage, Dr. Valencia Martinez, but her father, Jeb Batchelder, is not. Maxnot. Max has a half-sister named Ella Martinez, who is completely human, and a half-brother named Ari, Jeb's son. Ari was 3-yrs old when he was turned into an Eraser. He's tried to kill Max and the Flock since. In the 3rd book, Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports, he reaches his expiration date and is the last remaining Eraser. Max asks him to join them after they escape from the School, which causes the others (except Angel) to be upset, esp. Fang. Later in that same book, Ari dies in Max's arms in Germany at an Itex HQ. He seems to have a way with girls, especially Brigid Dwyer in the 4th and 5th books, and Lissa, the "Red-Haired Wonder" in 2nd book. Both girls inspire jealousy in Max, and she is not particularly fond of either one. He has obvious feelings for Max, and is the one who initiates the majority of their kisses in the early books and is said to have loved Max ever since they fled the School with Jeb. FangJeb. Fang also keeps a blog, which he uses to rally the young people of the world behind a variety of causes, from global warming to raids on Itex and the School. The blog mentioned in the books actually exists on the Internet, and is entitled "Fly On". The blog was moved to a new site in November 2008, and it now appears alongside Daniel X's blog and the blogs of other characters from Maximum Ride. The internet blog is more of a fun way of keeping up with characters and getting book/movie news than a tool to save the world, as is portrayed in the series.

Iggy's "power" is that he has the ability to 'feel' colors, despite the fact that he is blind. Iggy is very tall, like the rest of the flock, and pale. He has strawberry-blond hair and blue eyes and silver wings. Iggy can also see the color white, and the outline of the things on top of it.
