This book was just wonderfully written. I'm not happy with the end because if I were Rose there is no way I would even be able to live. It was so heartwrenching and brought tears to my eyes. I couldn't put the book down once I started to read it. I'm no longer a fan of Lissa but we'll see how...

I love love love this series. This book was very good but very depressing at the same time. I still can't believe it! My Poor Dimitri. I just really hope this turns out for the best in the next book.

Mead, Richelle. Shadow Kiss. New York, New York. Razorbill. 2008.

Shadow Kiss was amazing. It was the best book in the series so far. This exciting vampire novel is packed with action. The story is full of adventure, romance, and friendship that keeps you hooked with thirst-quenching chapters.
Rose Hathaway is a seventeen year old student at St. Vladimir’s Academy. It is her last year here and she will become a guardian, for moroi, at the end of the year. She is bonded to her best friend Vasilisa Dragomir and can see Dragomir’s thoughts and feelings through their bond. Rose, Dragomir, and their friends go on adventures and run into danger throughout the story. The book is a vampire book and the most interested people would be teenage girls.
The setting is present-day winter in Montana at St. Vladimir’s Academy. There are many subtopics throughout the story. One subtopic is that Rose and some friends were recently captured by strigoi, and Rose’s friend Mason Ashford was killed by them. Rose and her friends are back at the academy now but Rose keeps seeing Ashford around campus. She sees a pale figure that almost seems to glow and it is Ashford. At first Rose thought she was going crazy, but got information that proved she was not and the ghosts were real. Rose later learns how to control her powers more and communicate with Ashford. Another subtopic is with Rose and her mother, Janine Hathaway. They do not exactly get along very well because they have not seen each other for a long time until recently. Rose and Janine have some conflicts throughout the story but end up ok in the end. Something that impressed me was how well Christian Ozera, Dragomir’s boyfriend, and Rose worked together during the strigoi attack. Rose didn’t really like him at first and they have had some disputes in the past. But they put that aside, teamed-up, and ended up killing over half of the strigoi that attacked. They worked so well together even though the people they love are in danger. Dimitri Belikov, Rose’s true love, and Dragomir, Ozera’s girlfriend were both in danger. Rose and Ozera kept fighting even though they did not know if the people they loved were ok. Forbidden love was used in the story. Rose and Belikov love each other but can’t be with each other. First of all, they are seven years apart in age. Second, they are both supposed to be the guardians of the same person, Dragomir, and do not want to put her life in danger. If something happened where Rose’s life was put in danger, Belikov would choose to save her instead of Dragomir, and Rose would do the same. The theme is no matter how important your friends are, true love is always more important. Rose and Belikov are soul mates. Rose had to make one of the hardest decisions of her life, to choose between friendship and love. She could stay with her best friend, her bond mate Dragomir, or go after the other half of her heart, her soul mate Belikov.
Shadow Kiss was a very interesting book that almost anyone would love. It is one of my favorite books and I recommend it to anyone. It is a good love story with forbidden love. It is full of action and adventure, and holds the readers interest throughout the whole story.
