Good suspense. Kept me interested all week at the subway, and this weekend I couldn't drop the book until I finished it.

What an absolutely moronic book. Just one implausible situation after another.

Well-paced thriller. Highly enjoyable. Looking forward to the next Jo Beckett novel.

Really liked it, but not as much as I liked the Evan Delaney books.

I picked this up at the grocery store; I'd never heard of the author. This is not a book you will remember a week after you read it, but it's a pleasurable page-turner while it lasts. In general, I don't care for mysteries where the protagonist takes hundreds of pages to figure out what we, the readers already know. Admittedly the plot lines of thiller/suspense novels are predictable, but they don't have to be THAT predictable. The premise of the club requires a leap of suspended disbelief -- but at the same time, you kind of wonder. Do people with dirty secrets really long for a group of like-minded friends they can share their secret with? No, not for absolution, as you might think, but for the opportunity to brag about what they've done? If so, they'd no doubt live, and die, to regret it; and therein hangs this tale.

Surprisingly good. It was suspenseful and well written. I noticed when I finished that Stephen King recommended it.

Great plotline, but didn't draw me in as much as the Evan Delaney books. Still an enjoyable read.

I really liked Gardiner's Evan Delany series, so I had high hopes for this book. I was disappointed. The flashbacks and the cuts to the musings of the "bad guy" made it seems disjointed. In some places, it dragged. The characters were not well developed and I didn't really care what happened to them.
Skip this one and grab China Lake instead!
