The book was a good read. It started off a bit slow since it seemed to rehash what was going on. It picked up in the middle and ended with a cliff hanger. Now I can't wait till the next but comes out to find out what happens

This new series by Moning is dark, distrubing, and gory but I like this series anyway. I did not like the ending...though, I can't wait for the next book to come out to find out what happens-which means it served it's purpose.
Note to self: When I go to Dublin, Ireland, take plenty of flashlights, batteries and do not go out at night because of those things that go bump in the night.

What a disappointment! The third installment in the Fever series and I am still waiting for something to happen. I have been a fan of Karen Marie Moning for years. I have read everything she has written, but I have to say that I don’t know whether or not I am going to buy the 4th Fever book. Moning is supposed to be a romance writer—at least that is the section where you can find her books—but after buying 3 hardback novels I am still waiting for the romance.

The plot is simple: Georgia college student MacKayla Lane—Mac to her friends—travels to Dublin after her older sister Alina, who has been studying abroad, is murdered. While in Ireland Mac discovers she and Alina are adopted and they are both sidhe-seers, able to see the Fae. And contrary to popular thought the Fae are utterly alien and deadly to humanity. Mac finds that Alina had fallen under the influence of the evil Lord Master and Dublin has been overrun by the Fae because the wall between the worlds is growing thin. She only survives because she meets the handsome and enigmatic Jericho Barrons who, upon discovering that Mac is a sidhe-seer that can sense Objects of Power (don’t bother to ask), allows her to move into his book store and grudgingly teaches her, bit by bit, enough to stay alive. Mac also runs across V’lane, a sex-by-death Fae, who decides he has his own use for her.

Moning is a talented writer and in the Fever series she expands on the Fae world that she created in her previous books. It is interesting and well-crafted. The problem is Moning has concentrated so much on the world she has forgotten the plot and storyline. With a decent editor the 3 Fever books could have been condensed into 1 novel, which would have improved the plot and timing immeasurably. Unfortunately, Moning has become popular enough that she can do whatever she wants. This is a disservice to her and her readers.

I really enjoyed the book overall. I wish we knew a little more, than we are left knowing at the end of the book. My only major grip with the book, and why I won't give it 5 satrs, is the last chapter of the book. It was a shock, disturbing, and disappointing ending to the book.

“I run so hot and cold on this! 3rd book in the Fever Series, it's Mac's darkest hour. The first half of the book initially seems to be just review but on closer inspection, as in the other books, KM Moning hides clues in the smallest of situations. The second half, Mac's world starts to unravel and by the end you realize the author IS NOT pulling her punches.

This book can not stand alone and must be read in its proper sequence or it can be terribly misunderstood. It's the changing point for Mac. Upon re-read and closer scrutiny of clues, it is a changing point for Barrons, as well. Mac will emerge a totally different person. Barrons must examine his reason for existance. He remains a mystery but by paying close attention to details, there are very telling clues. But who/what is he? I'm still working on it! Moning is making Mac work for her HEA as she's making her fans work for clues and understanding. This is not a romance; this is a paranormal mystery thriller. The research needed for the series is in depth, drawing from Celtic mythology, Christianity, Paganism. Thinking cap needed!

One problem I had is there is so much information needed to try to solve the puzzles- not only the first two Fever books but also her Highlander series, of which this series is a spinoff-that it can be a bit overwhelming. (I am in the process of reading her Highlander books.)

Another problem is where it ended. The ending is violent and graphic. It disturbs me to be left hanging at that particular point. I don't mind issues left open but the ending of a book is often what is replayed in my mind and the imagery is quite upsetting. I applaud KM Moning for daring to take her character down this dark path when it's so easy to take the easy way out, to have it all end peachy and not have her beloved character get hurt but to end it there? She doesn't need to be saved but PLEASE...my heart is breaking!

Readers must keep in mind this is a series and a single book can not tell the story of Macayla Lane, Jericho Barrons, Lord Master, The Unseelie King...it's epic.

Dearest Mac, hang in there--Dreamfever is coming. Things are always the darkest before the dawn. I'll be there with you when you kick Fae arse! Remember who you are. You are VENGEANCE!”

Can I just say, wow? Wow! This book is amazing! I have been anxiously counting down the days ever since last fall when I read Bloodfever, the second book in the Fever series, and I am so happy to say that it did not disappoint! It was freaking fabulous!!!!

Moning has out done herself with crafting this world. She slowly over the course of the series reveals the world to Mac and the readers making it a puzzle that we have to fit the pieces together. Moning has done a wonderful job of keeping the reader on edge with giving us answers to some questions and yet somehow still creating the need for more answers to new questions. Moning is able to keep the story feeling believable even though what is happening in the story is truly unbelievable.

Mac herself is the best of heroines. She is completely out of her element. She is a normal girl and one that didn’t have any aspirations other than finding a nice southern gentleman and providing her parents with grandbabies and accessorizing her sunny outfits. But when it comes to finding her in impossible situations, she sucks it up and toughs it out. The reader can’t help but like her and feel compassion for her. The reader is right there with her through her journey and it’s a tough road she has to travel. Her growth and transformation over the story is amazing and one of the best aspects of the series.

This series is fantastic. If you like urban fantasy or even paranormal romance, I highly recommend it. If you don't like the first person point of view, but are intrigued by my review, I welcome you to just jump in and read this book. You will not be lost not having read the first two books. Everything is briefly explained in the prologue. It’s a quick read and highly addicting. Mac’s voice will suck you in and not let go and after reading this book I vow you will want to go back read the others. Ms. Moning, congratulations on a job well done. This book is everything I could as for in a great read.

This book was really good - more information is provided about the Fae, the Sidhe-seers.
The ending shocked me. I was expecting a 'dark' ending but not what it was. OMFG!!!
