I remember I first read this book at an age when I thought that since my grandpa was in the medics during WWII (medics and soldiers made no difference to me at that time) he was solely responsible for this tragedy. Now I know better, but I still think Hiroshima was a tragedy and didn't have to happen. I love this story about a girl getting leukemia and folding her paper cranes to stay alive. I made a paper crane once, and it was very difficult, so I can see how a thousand would be very hard to make.
