“Candide is Voltaire's most popular piece and is a sarcastic and playful response to the theological argument that this world is just too perfect to not be the result of a perfect loving god. It is short and to the point and by the end lays waste to this rather ridiculous, but no less widespread, idea of philosophical optimism. There are better written books but it's a fun read.”
