Unpredictable

by Eileen Cook

Sophie Kintock isn't crazy, she just wants her guy back. And posing as a psychic to give his new girlfriend a face reading designed to break them up isn't going overboard, is it? Don't answer that.

Faking psychic powers turns out to be easy and fun, especially after a few lessons from Nick, the cute (if a bit nerdy) skeptic, who knows all the tricks of the trade. But her readings do... (read more)

I thoroughly enjoyed this charming novel. The pace is fast, the observations witty and the situations laugh-out-loud funny. From the first page to the satisfying last, I rooted for Eileen Cook's hapless and endearing heroine.

I was delighted to discover Eileen Cook -when is her next book due out?!

I'm so glad to find a new writer like Eileen Cook - what a fabulous read! So funny you can fall right off the couch laughing, but sweet and tender too! There is no checking of pages to see how many are left or how long it will take to get there.
Between the tragedy of mismatched socks and the hilarity of the moving car, this woman's bullets hit the mark every time.
The characters are well written - the book is terrific! I'll read anything you write for sure! When is your next coming out?
Hilarious, outrageous!

Move over Sophie Kinsella and make room for Eileen Cook's own Sophie. Not since the first shopaholic book has a writer created such an outrageous character, yet made her so appealing.

The secret is in the humor and in Sophie's own awareness that what she's doing is a bit extreme, possibly crazy. Laughed out loud more times than I can count. Great fun. Couldn't put it down.

I can't wait for the next book by this fabulous new novelist.

UNPREDICTABLE is one of those books you laugh all the way through, send to your best girlfriend for her birthday, and carry around in your beach bag the whole summer long.

The book opens with the heroine, Sophie, stealing her ex-boyfriend's socks in a slightly twisted but hysterically funny plot to win him back. Sophie is willing to go to any lengths to help her guy see what he's missing, including fooling his uber-perky new girlfriend into thinking Sophie is the city's hottest psychic.

Eileen Cook's writing is funny, I mean, laugh out loud funny. There were several times as I read this book that I was cracking up so hard I could barely continue reading. (You know that feeling, when you're sitting by yourself in a coffee shop or a beach chair, and you can't help giggling out loud, even though you're pretty sure you look like a complete lunatic.)

Cook's heroine, Sophie, is so likeable, quirky and charming, you'll wish you had her for a friend. UNPREDICTABLE is smartly written, and offers hilarious insight into men, women and how they interact when they're in love, falling out of love, or not exactly sure how they feel.

Despite the fact that she's a bit on the nutty side (and who among us hasn't gone off her rocker at least once for love?) I pulled for Sophie to win back her man, and come out of her self-made disaster unscathed.

This has been one of my favorite books this year, and I can hardly wait until they make a movie out of it.

OK, this book isn't going to win a Nobel, but it is a fun romantic comedy. This book just calls out for sand, flip-flops, and an umbrella in your drink. It's an easy book to pick up and put down while the hubby slathers you with SPF 30, the kids finish up at gymnastics or when the doctor is running late. It's a good start for a writer with the wit and talent to make reading a favorite activity for busy women again.
