It might serve as a quick gloss on Spartan history for someone who had no background but needed something in a hurry. For anyone who is even a serious lay student of clasical history is just has no substance. The vast majority of the work is restating or commentary on Herodotus and Thucydides (and some Xenophon) which I have already read.”

“A partial history of the Spartans told mostly through the telling of the history of the kings. An OK read but for some reason didn't really grab hold of my interest.”
