Somehow I missed the fact that this was a sequel to Summer of Night, which from all accounts that I have read, seems to be far superior to this book. I guess the author was going for some type of cerebral, psychological horror here, but to me the books was just boring and ridiculous. It started out good. Flawed hero. Check. Spooky location. Check. It kind of went downhill from there, and I felt as if not much was really resolved in the end.
