A beautiful and compelling, but clearly unhinged, sculptress of gargoyles by the name of Marianne Engel appears at the foot of his bed and
becomes immersedin her life. This isa fascinating book on many levels -the history is apparently well researchedand the author specifies booksand authors contemporaryto the period. There's also a Dante's Inferno theme running through itand atone point, the protagonist dream-experienceshis own version ofthe circles of hell. And it's a good love story...this bookhas it all!!
