“A book that was way ahead of its time, and an anchor in using scientific premise to set up horror as opposed to the supernatural. The concepts in Body Snatchers are amazing, and it does a great job of setting up subdued terror and placing you in a hopeless situation with the characters. Sleep, such a basic element of our lives, yet if you do slumber, you'll never wake again. The plotlines, however, shred pretty badly towards the end - Finney has to find numerous illogical excuses to preserve the isolation of Santa Mira, and even when the protagonists escape the town, they inexplicably turn around and head back in a highly contrived rationalization.
