Good guys in this book are bad guys in Desperation and vice-versa (in some cases). That made this book fun, but the signature King horror and action made...” see full review » see other reviews » |
“Exactly the same characters as in Desperation, facing a different menace in a different isolated spot. Huh. Not quite as satisfying as its mirror image was, but an OK book.”

And after it rolls a waste of devastation and desperation will be left behind it, and the few survivors must find their way out. But they must content with the immense power of fear and grief, and the evil presence of the demon that inhabits the mind of a little boy, the horrid mind that creates the false reality that invades the very fabric of time and space, Tak. In a universe parallel to the one in Desperation, Stephen King delivers one of his best, a suspenseful read that will leave you awake long into the night. With the return of Johnny Marinville, Steve Ames, Collie Entragain, and everyone else from Desperation, it offers a refreshing chance to be with those characters again, in different lives and contexts that are quite different from a series.”

But there is one kid who lives in one of those houses who is autistic. But that is not just the case, he is also possessed. He is possessed by a demon, or some sort of evil spirit. The story starts with a sunny day in the street, kids playing in the yard, and all of a sudden there is a drive by. People get slaughtered by the bullets. Then all of a sudden the whole place starts to turn into a Wild West town with deformed coyotes the size of bears that go killing some of the other survivors. In the end the kid dies by being able to manipulate a crazy woman who had a shotgun to come into his house and kill him. Pretty sad but then the demon tries to get into the crazy lady’s head to control her but fails for her enlarges and explodes into a bloodbath. The book is very good throughout, has some parts that can get kind of boring or pointless like the screenplay parts, but otherwise it is a very good read. Not that long and too short. Oh and it is by Stephen King so that says something. ”
