“This was my first Anne Rice book. I loved it. Great story, brilliant conceptualization. A few complaints: the love story between Michael and Rowan was too sappy. It didn't fit with the rest of the book. And the book could have been shorter. Rice got a little too wordy at times.. I found myself skipping over paragraphs here and there. ”
“I can't get into this book. I find that Rice keeps repeating herself, especially in the first third, and now that I'm midway, I have no desire to go on. The real shame is that a friend gave me something like 8 Anne Rice books to read (as a gift), and I think this one has done me in. Can anyone out there give me the strength to stick it out?”
“I was swept into that book . It took me away great escape !! Sometimes I couldn't put book down and others it let me ponder of the surroundings . It was not my first Anne Rice book but my third and still my all time favorite.”
“Johnette r- I totally agree with you. I just want to be there. But then I love anything of A.Rice. She can really describe a place- can't she? I recently bought the spanish edition for my mom. She couldn't put it down. It's now one of her very favorites.Although, I don't really agree with daydreamer. I don't think it's a simple fantasy book; I think it's more of an easy to read and follow story.”
“I really like this book. It's not only a simple fantasy book,it's a combination between fantasy and the real world we live in. It really makes you think about the fact that people like the Mayfairs really exist...”
“Tried to read this and can't seem to get into it. Will come back to it another time.”
“The Witching Hour is one of the best books I ever read... and I have read a lot. Rice's descriptions make you FEEL New Orleans and I wanted to just pick up and move to the Garden DIstrict because of that book...Never have lived there, just wanted to. (Pre-Katrina of course) The ending works if you read the following books in the series. once you read one, you have to read the rest.”
