In which Anne Rice decides she is a religious philosopher and subjects the reader to prose of almost cosmic crappiness.

Different perspective, slow in parts but all around it was an interesting and thought provoking read.

This is the 5th book in The Vampire Chronicles. I'll qualify my review with this: it's probably been close to 15 years since I read the first four books. In this book, Lestat has fallen for a woman, Dora, but he has killed her father. Lestat is then approached by Memnoch, the Devil. Memnoch wants Lestat to become his lieutenant.

The book was boring! Nothing happened! Lestat sat around and listened, first to Dora’s father’s ghost, then to Memnoch, tell stories. Memnoch’s stories were about Heaven and Hell and God. Ok, so Memnoch took Lestat to heaven, then to hell, which means Lestat wasn’t just sitting, but it was still boring!

This was one of the best in the vampire chronicals, all the concepts of heaven and hell, the god and the devil make this a highly enjoyable read. It gets abit slow in places but very good.
