If you like wine, you're bound to enjoy it. If you don't, I'm less sure. But, I thought it was riveting and finished it in a day.

A true story whodunnit. Read this unusual book about the man who created lots of "old" vintage wine by reusing old bottles, faking labels, and blending existing wines, then selling them to ultra-rich gullible people for decades before he was caught. You'll never pay for an expensive bottle of wine again!

    I read this recently.

    It's so much fun!

Digs deep into the wild, funny, extreme world of big-time wine drinkers, collectors, scoundrels, and other sorts who love love love their booze.

It is understandable that the author must include a lot of detail about wine so that the later events become even more critical, but at times I felt as if I was reading a reference book. The first few chapters of historical background and the last few chapters as the quest to discover whether bottles were fakes was at its climax were riveting. The middle was a bit flat.

All in all, it made me want to go out and buy a bottle of cheap Cote du Rhone and just enjoy it!

I loved this book ~ sort of a mystery story about wine counterfeiting. Greed and money obscure and make people buy that which may or not may be real.

Fascinating case of extensive fraud in rare wine market. Learned tons about wine and auctions and how to fabricate fakes, should I need a second career.
