The Third Angel is not one of my favorite books. I could not get into the story and often had to reread because the information did not fully register. The book was also sad. It was composed of three stories and none of them were happy. I did not like this book at all, with the exception of the last three pages.

This book was so depressing at first that I almost stopped reading it but I am glad I finished as it ended in an inspiring way,

A book I personally wouldn't recommend. Got excited with the first portion, then once you hit the middle portion, bummed the first portion ended and then at the last part of this book just didn't finish it.

Overall I liked this book. It's a bit confusing because it starts at "current" time and goes backward in time so that incidents that occur 20 or 30 years in the past are linked, through a hotel and "the third angel" to current events. It's a good story and very "Hoffman."

Not my favourite Alice Hoffman. I felt the stories as a whole were lacking the usual magic that is generally infused in her novels and I really missed it. Without it, the subject matter was just too tough to take.

It is a typical Alice Hoffman book, in that it has a mystical quality to it. It is about the connection of 3 women to and how their lives are influenced by one event in a hotel room.

Alice Hoffman is a remarkable story-teller, pulling you into her mystical tale like no one else. Although this wasn't one of my favorites, it was still a wonderful and quick read.

I can always count on Alice Hoffman to write an absorbing tale. This novel is set in contemporary London and weaves the lives of three women into remembrance and regret. The youngest, Maddy, is a lawyer from New York who meets the oldest, Daisy, while stalking Paul, who is the son of Frieda, scorned lover of Daisy's long-dead son-in-law. Confusing? Not at all! Throw in the ghost of Michael Macklin on the seventh floor of a once-grand hotel and you've got a great summer read!

Alice Hoffman books have a special place in my reading loves! Always interesting, always thought provoking. Although this one, when I got to the end, I had to go back and reread the early chapters, because what the ending revealed changed what they meant . . .
