Loved, loved, loved this book. Cowboys, oil, Wyoming and simple life - true story. Alexandra Fuller, the author, grew up in South Africa, moved with her
family to Wyoming - that in itself is fascinating. "Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight" is on my list of must reads.

This book is a "slow" read at first so it is hard to stay with it, but if you do it is a rewarding story. The author picks up the reality and common life experiences so well you feel like you know the person and feel part of his life. It is a good book worth ready but do not expect suspense and mystery. It is a biography of a real person who you learn to admire.

This is a real quick summer read. Okay but not fantastic book. Mostly interesting as it is a true story of living in the barren landscape of Wyoming and working on oil rigs.

Short book with a powerful message, sad powerful message. I enjoyed reading this but the author uses a first person narrative technique to tell the story which others may find irritating even in appropriate for a work of non ficiton...he stood on the porch watching the dew...

I'm enjoying the flow of this book. Her descriptions are wonderful. I chose this book because of an other book she wrote. The styles are similar but the subjects are completely different.
Oh the ending was sad and powerful. I did not realize it was a true stroy until the last page!

Fuller captures the beauty and rugged despair of the Wyoming plains and the big oil business. Her beautiful prose moved me to tears and laughter. I would suggest her other books set in Africa for further reading. You will not be disappointed.

I'm a fan of Ms. Fuller. This is a beautifully-written story about a rural guy's life. Except it contains bigger stories about the West, and the world we live in now. Very well done.
