This book really hit close to home. I really enjoyed reading it, although i do wish the end was more resolved.

I can understand why people would like this book because it sheds light on binge drinking. The author gave interesting statistics. But, I absolutely hated this book. I felt like it was told in a passive voice. Also the word choice was irritating because it looked like she wrote the book with a thesaurus next to her. At one point she describes a mall as metastasizing (pg 112), which may sound clever at a glance but is really just distracting. I didn't finish this book because I grew tired of some of the pretentious word choice that I felt took away from the honesty of the memoir. So maybe the book got better in later chapters, but that is my two cents.

This was a straight forward look at alcohol abuse and the female experience of boozing. Koren was able to capture her childhood, adolescence, and college years in a way that many people, including myself can relate.
