“Saw the show on PBS so enjoyed reading the stories of the interesting people and foods the crew encountered on the motorcycle ride up the Mississippi River Road”

(Plus, I didn't pre-order the book, and then I forgot about it.) I saw this book on the clearance rack at Borders for only $5.99, though, and I picked it up. I have read and loved all of AB's other books, so I figured, even though this wasn't my favorite show, I would give the book a chance.
I loved this book! It was different from his other books in that it was more of a travelogue than a cooking book (though there are many recipes included), but it was a great read. He wrote this book in the same informal style that made his other books and his TV shows so enjoyable. Maybe the book was more interesting because I ride a bike myself (true, it's a scooter, not one of the awesome BMW bikes AB rides) and the whole concept of his "Feasting on Asphalt" seems like something I would love to do myself. At any rate, I loved reading the book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys food (road food in particular) or travel.”
“I expected a few more recipes. :) It's a great travelog though.”

States included: Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota. ”

The book includes more information and stops that didn't make the cut in the show. Its all written by Alton Brown and is totally in his voice. You can just hear him when you read. The book also includes a fold-out map of the entire route, a day-by-day itinerary with exact locations for every place they visited, as well as contact information and ingredient sources. And of course, recipes! Around 40 recipes, some that are even the real recipes from the places they ate. Highly recommended for any Alton Brown, travel, or food fan.”
