“You must read this book -- made me look at televised "news, politics, religion, etc" in a totally different way. ”

Though written in 1985, developments today and the massive effect of the internet and social networks in the global age make Neil Postman's work all the more applicable.”

Now we have not only TV but a plethora of other media to consume our time and attention. Not only has public discourse suffered (how many investigative reporters are out of work in 2009? How many of us sit down with our families for dinner?) but now statistics show, in addition, that for every 2 hours daily in front of the TV we are 25% overweight and shorten our life expectancy thereby. This book is still cited rather frequently.”
