“Another foodie book....Not quite the equal of School of Essential Ingredients, but fun none the less. ”

It's a very Anne Tyler-esque book, with a protagonist who wants to fix everything in her semi-dysfunctional family. Happy ending. Not a lot of substance, but it was a nice vacation read.”

Yes | No“A "nice" book, telling the tale of Gus, who learned many lessons after her own cooking show was cancelled and she was forced to share another show with a new, young, up-and-coming lady chef from Spain, a beauty queen, no less. I finished it, but it really didn't hold my interest like many of the best books. Writing was OK but not stellar. Subject matter not my cup of tea. ”

It was great to read about how everyone related to one another and you got an understanding of why they made the decisions they made. Then when it comes to wrap up the book it was like Jacobs was time crunched and had to just end things. Great characters, good story, horrible ending. 3.5 stars. ”
