As a liberal democrat, I was reluctant to read a book that I heard was based on Laura Bush's life. That said, I LOVED this book. I understand Sittenfeld admits this book is "loosely" based on L. Bush, but I don't think anyone will be fooled. The main character and narrator IS L.B. and I couldn't help but laugh out loud when George W. entered the picture. I found Sittenfeld's portrayal of the main character sympathetic, and I liked her from the very beginning. I am waiting for the s&*t to hit...
