I think this is the first Russian book I've read, and I'll admit it was only because of the fantastic film made from it, but I guess I'm not alone here. This is an excellently dark fantasy series (I've yet to read the third book as it's not released in English as yet) with great characters.     The book has three different stories going on that all lead up to one main story and it slightly philosophical. It is a must read and I can't wait to start Day Watch.
