The most publicized example is her contention that women talk more than men--in fact, three times more. It's well established that this is not true. Brizendine now admits her statements aren't supported by any science, and...” see full review » see other reviews » |

The author, Dr. Someone or other, was a self-professing know-it-all (she includes several anecdotal references about what a genius she is as a working psychiatrist) who apparently has come to the conclusion that women are entirely misunderstood and should be treated like princesses just because they have fluctuating levels of estrogen in their systems. I definitely agree with her idea that women are equal to men, but to some extent she even goes even further to say that women are better than men, namely because of the exceptional capacities women have to read and interpret human emotion. Quite honestly, men are humans too and have difficulty controlling their emotions just as women do. Men also have the ability to understand emotion, just as women do. I thought this book was boring, repetitive, and pointless. It has seriously endangered my interest in becoming a psychology major.”

Midway through the book I felt that the author turned from her earlier tone of objectivity to one of exaggeration via repetitive examples and rather specific (hyperbolic) instances of insane female behavior. I regained interest by the end of the book, though, and consider it worth the time. ”
