i think i'm one of the few people who thought this book was a big let down. i actually enjoyed the first 300 pages more than the "big reveal", which i loathed because i thought the book changed courses and i just wasn't interested.

clearly, pessl is talented, but hello? where's the editor?

    Gimmicky, but interesting.

The gang from Scooby Doo meets the worlds most boring librarian and a useless, down on her luck illustrator, and they end up in shabby apartment of some middle aged hippy who took way too many drugs and went kind of crazy.

The ending of this book made no sense, which was particularly frustrating since I had to sit through 700 pages of the most smug, irritating, pointless notations to get to it. This would certainly be in the top ten worst books I've ever read.

Pessl is a great new writer and there is LOTS going for this book but it just dragged on way too long. Some of her writing is a little self-indulgent. Where was her editor? Still, very smart, very funny, very dark--I'd recommend.
