“Richard Stark (Donald Westlake) Never lets you down. His cast of misfit characters, always during a caper that goes wrong, are a constant source of amusement & guarantee a good read.”Mimi W wrote this review Thursday, March 1, 2012. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“Love his endings, leaves you in some doubt. Much like the way I ended my novel, did the hero really drown?”Lee A. Wood aka; Bear, BeadieBear wrote this review Tuesday, May 17, 2011. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“In a unique twist of character development, Parker, the main character in this novel, is a master criminal. He and two others rob an armored car, but have difficulty escaping. One is caught but escapes. Parker and friends go back to pick up the loot, stashed in an abandoned church and again have trouble escaping. The money unfortunately has been marked so they are forced to secure the services of a money launderer, which sets off another round of bad guys chasing bad guys. Generally, mysteries feature good guys trying to bring criminals to justice. It took some suspension of belief to have the protagonist be a crook. Stark is one of the pseudonyms used by Donald Westlake.

“The lastest Parker novel. Not the best of them, but sort of solid and workman-like. I wonder if Parker suffers in comparison to Lee Child's "Reacher," who is a more richly drawn character.”grouchylibrarian wrote this review Friday, April 25, 2008.
