Not exactly a happy book, but the many story lines kept my interest throughout. Well researched and well written. And I liked a lot of the characters. The storeis within the story were wonderful.

I read this with my book club and only one person in the whole club liked it. I'm continually surprised by all of the positive reviews. Very depressing. I expected more from the book. Not much character development.
