This is not just a story of scaryness, so much more. So much about the city itself in the words, amazing.” see full review » see other reviews » |
“Really sad... slightly tedious, but still a good book.”

The Metamorphosis has a very interesting book. Its definately not something I would read on my own. Metamorphosis was influenced by the authors life. Kafka's relationship with his father was symbolized by Gregor's, the main character's, relationship with his father. It made you wonder what his father did in to make him think of his father that way. I thought that this book was very well written and very different from any book that I have ever read before.”
“For our Global Literature class, we read a few of the stories in this Kafka complication. Obviously, "The Metamorphosis" was the one which stood out most, which is a fictional account of a hardworking man named Gregor who awakes one morning to find that he has transformed into a giant bug. From this point on, we see his relationship with his family, job and humanity change, though he keeps his priorities straight the entire time and maintains a set of principles. I thought that the story was very interesting and liked the use of surrealism in a story about a man who becomes almost inhuman through his personality and characteristics. I would recommend the story to anyone interested in such a theme.”

His feelings are exemplified in the experiences that the characters in the short stories undergo. For example Gregor, from the Metamorphosis, who due to stress wakes up looking like a bug. This is an example of how much of an outsider Kafka felt he was to his family. his intelligence and talent for writing was never admired. Instead he worked to make money doing something he did not like just as Gregor did in the Metamorphosis. Franz Kafka's short stories are full of surprises and his ideas of life are only ideas that can be seen in his writing through his eyes and the experiences of the characters. ”
