I've said before that I would hate to be a character in a John Steinbeck novel, but I think it would be worse to be one in a Carmac McCarthy story. Sure, Steinbeck's characters often end up getting mauled, shot, or starved to death, but those are still better odds than most of the folks between...

Just not my cup of tea. I think I don't have enough testosterone to appreciate this book.

I don't want to see the movie - it would ruin the amazing pictures McCarthy put in my head. I love this book.

very good. The trilogy is a favorite of mine. The style of writing is unique to mccarthy - reminiscent to me of Hemingway

Probably the single most violent, bleak, depressing, sucks-all-hope-and-joy-from-the-world story I have ever read. This is the king of post-modern westerns, it really is an amazing book, often called the best American book of the last 25 years - but damn if isn't a rough ride.

Great novel. Helped explain the movie by adding more details.

Great stuff, but a rare instance where the movie is better. Coen bros are just incredible.

Good plot, the movie parallels the novel quite well, so I was able to picture things in my head very easily. I did not like the last 30 pages, the part where Bell was just reflecting to himself.

Very good book, but I found it one of my more difficult reads due to the lack of quotation marks.

Scary and compelling read. At times I got lost due to the author's refusal to use quotation marks with dialogue, but I immediately picked up another of McCarthy's books.
