And it ALWAYS takes some time to get used to McCarthy's idiosyncratic style--I don't know what quotation marks ever did to traumatize him. Nevertheless, this ends up being a well-told tale, with some achingly beautiful passages. Very accessible, by Cormac McCarthy standards.”
